Located on a steeply sloping site in rural Welcome Bay, this home was designed for a builder/client who wanted a home that will sit well in its rural surroundings and capture the incredible panoramic views.
Designed as two separate wings connected by a glazed link, the home is positioned on the site to provide shelter against the prevailing South West winds. This also opens the home up to the epic and unobstructed ocean, harbour, rural, city and Kaimai views, as well as capturing all-day sun.
A natural material palette featuring masonry block, charred Japanese cedar and Corten steel presents an earthy vibe and, with a custom steel braced subfloor system, a slightly industrial twist. Simple roof forms, full height joinery to living areas and timber on show to the interiors, this modern home will be a sharp addition to a prominent rural landform in the Western Bay of Plenty.
Construction is expect to begin early 2023.
