Compact living was one of the primary priorities for this couple who’s children have now left home. Our clients will still be able to have the whole family to stay, or receive a passive income at any time through the separate rentable zone. This design ticks all the requirement boxes we set out to achieve for this family.

This home is designed to be built using the highly insulated SIPs (structural insulated panels) for the wall and roof structures which will see it exceed the very low NZ building code requirements by some margin with. This will result in exceptional noise reduction from the busy road out front, stable ambient temperatures for comfort in any season and exceptional energy efficiency.

Our clients enjoyed viewing their designs on our Virtual Reality system where they could explore their home from inside the model and view our concepts in augmented reality.  This helped them understand their designs much more easily, and they had so much fun with the experience that they did not want to take their googles off!  

The result of our Virtual Reality tour of the concept design was that we were able to quickly identify some adjustments needed, saving substantial time and cost in comparison to doing this on site.
