“Our Proven Process & Solutions Rectify Water Ingress and Reinstate Value”

While we are, first and foremost, professional designers, we are also remedial/leaky-building specialists.  Our experience with remediating over 100 leaky buildings transfers directly to our ability to ensure the long-term performance of your new building or renovation project, as well as any remedial project.

Managing director, Andre Laurent, works very closely with Bay of Plenty’s leading Registered Building Surveyor, Graham Hodgson.  Building an in-depth knowledge and understanding of construction methods, building materials and the risks or limitations associated with each, ensures Creative Space plans are highly accurate and viable.

Likewise, the fact that most of the team has spent time on “on the tools” in the construction industry means they have a real understanding of the need for more information and detail in plans to help prevent building failures (as per the typical design call-outs shown here).  Our experience of and respect for on-site relationships with all trades people is another important factor in risk minimization.

Andre has taken the extra step of sitting and passing the stringent NZIBS (NZ Institute of Building Surveyors) weather-tightness exams, covering such topics as “Physics of Water” and “Mold, Fungi and Decay”.  These papers are not a walk-in-the-park, requiring a minimum 75% pass mark. The understanding Andre now has of building science is valuable for making the best decisions for our clients and trades partners.

As a result, Andre (and the Creative Space team) is typically the agency of choice by owners, inspectors and surveyors looking for solutions to failed buildings and security with their new building or renovation project.
